Less than 24 hours after we shared photos of a prototype of the upcoming Ford Escort, captured by one of our readers resting on a truck bed in Europe, our spies emailed us a fresh batch of images of the compact sedan testing on an ice track in northern Sweden.
Even though Ford execs have previously hinted at the availability of the new sedan that resurrects the Escort nameplate in markets outside of China, possibly even in some European countries, a final decision has not yet been announced.
All we know for now is that Ford will offer the car as a more affordable proposition than the Focus in China’s hugely popular compact saloon segment, with its world premiere to likely take place this month at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. Possible engine choices will include Ford’s 3- and 4-cylinder EcoBoost units.
These images suggest that the production car has remained close in styling to the clean looking Ford Escort Concept from the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
