For all we know, the Toyota FT-1 Concept will remain just a stunning design exercise. Officially designed for the Gran Turismo 6 video game by Toyota’s Calty Design Research in California, the FT-1 Concept builds upon “a rich sports coupe heritage dating back to the 2000GT, Celica, Supra, MR2 and most recently Scion FR-S,” according to Toyota.

To find out more about the car, Jay Leno invited exterior designer Alex Chen and interior designer William Chergosky to his garage and they brought along the FT-1 Concept much to Leno’s delight.

He was really impressed with the way the car looks and said it’s more attractive than the Lexus LF-A. Obviously, the big question here is whether Toyota will build the FT-1, but the designers didn’t give any hints other than the car is pretty much doable the way it looks now.

Taking that into account plus the fact that FT stands for Future Toyota and 1 for ultimate, I think there is a reasonably good chance that it could spawn a production model in a few years’ time.
