Our Hungarian friend and occasional prototype spotter Peter S., recently snapped these shots of the upcoming Land Rover Discovery Sport all dressed up for testing on the German Autobahn.

The new baby Land Rover is the first of a series of models bearing the Discovery nameplate and it will replace the Freelander / LR2 at the beginning of next year (though, the sales date will vary depending on the market).

To be offered in two editions with five- and seven-seat configurations, the Discovery Sport rides on a heavily reworked version of the Range Rover Evoque’s predominantly steel platform, offering a similar lineup of diesel and gasoline engines.

The styling will loosely take after Land Rover’s Vision Concept that set the tone for the entire family of Discovery models, with the British firm’s officials having stated that it will be one of the most versatile and capable SUVs in its segment.

A big thanks to Peter S. for the scoop!
