Back in 2011, we featured a report that suggested Porsche was looking to create a road-going 911 hybrid. The matter was “under discussion” back then, but now it may have actually materialized into an actual prototype.

TouriClips managed to capture an odd 991-model prototype being driven around the Nurburgring, accompanied by a strange woosh that doesn’t seem to go away during gearshifts – the uploader suggests it could be a part-electric powertrain, and the whine is the electric motor providing ‘torque fill.’

Porsche has already adopted the system for racing use, so its trickling down to its road cars is more than just mere speculation – it would make sense.
