The upcoming all-electric single-seater racing series dubbed Formula E will go on to start its inaugural season later this year. The first ever race to be held under this new competition’s banner will take place in the heart of Beijing, China on September 13.

However, expectations for the first season are not high, since it will be more of a kind of break-in season, where things will be tested and put in order. Formula E actually starts next year, because by the time the second season starts, the teams will have been allowed to begin tinkering with their cars – it will be like Formula One in that respect, and the cars will be different enough to make the decisive difference.

That’s really something to look forward to, more so than seeing these identical cars racing – it will also spur on the teams to go all-out on developing and improving their vehicle.

My hopes for the series have been slightly raised, but I am aware that the video posted below could simply have been the result of the Formula E guys asking the X-Car guys to give them some coverage because nobody is paying attention to them (yet); this might end up becoming quite the popular Formula E-related (unofficial promo) video
