We receive quite a few requests to identify prototype vehicles spotted on the road by our readers, but it isn’t always easy to provide a definitive answer, as some of these cars often leave us baffled too, especially when we don’t have additional views from different angles.

For this Mystery Scoop, you can thank Carscoops’ reader Philip C. from Australia, who told us the following:

“Saw this partially covered up prototype in Melbourne, Australia this morning, with the sticker ‘left hand drive evaluation vehicle’. The front grille looks like a Ford. Perhaps a new Taurus?”

We haven’t seen a prototype of the new Taurus yet, so we can’t say for sure. What we can tell you is that, it does look to be a mid-to-full size sedan and that, after performing a quick check, you can delete the new Hyundai Genesis and Sonata, along with the Chrysler 200 sedan from your list of potential models.

If you have any idea what it is, the comments area awaits you.

A tip of the hat to Philip for the scoop!
