The all-new Smart ForTwo and ForFour are undergoing their final testing phase, and Smart has decided to tease the two models with a video showing the cars completely covered by camouflage.
The video was taken in Sweden during winter testing of the two vehicles and features Markus Riedel, chief engineer of Smart.
As you probably know, both cars are co-developed with Renault and share the platform with the Renault Twingo. Like the Renault, the ForTwo and ForFour will use the same engines, an all-new 1.0-liter 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol unit with 69hp (70PS) and a 0.9-liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 89 hp (90 PS).
With a length of 3,505mm (138in), the ForFour is slightly shorter than the Twingo (3,581mm/141in), while the ForTwo retains the length of the current model: 2,692mm (106in).
Riedel says the ForFour is a huge step forward in terms of comfort, ride and handling, while retaining a similar character to the ForTwo – despite offering two extra doors and seats. As for the ForTwo, the chief engineer only said it’s fun to drive. Both models are expected to launch this autumn in Europe.
