You don’t need us to tell you how different the SRT Viper GTS is to a Porsche 911 Turbo S; they could be considered rivals, though, in all fairness, one is still a brutal and old school still quite analog machine, whilst the other does all of the hard work for you, making you feel like a truly excellent driver.

Performance doesn’t leave you wanting for more in either case (zero to sixty in sub-three seconds is attainable), yet as the guys at The Smoking Tire try to prove in their video comparison of the two cars, they deliver it very differently.

The Viper makes its driver work in order to make swift progress, especially around twisty roads; from what we gather, you still kind of have to man-handle it into submission, in true Viper tradition.

The Porsche, on the other hand, is in some ways, a rear-engined Nissan GT-R made in Germany. It relies heavily on computers to make it tick and it’s still a great drive, though it really is a world away from the American car.
