Even on the tarmac, at the speeds competition cars are flying by, any mishap can be life threatening, so thank the racing gods for roll cages, molded bucket seats with multi-point harnesses and safety helmets.

Rally driver Steve Poot and co-pilot Nicolas Pire had the misfortune of testing their safety equipment first hand when their Renault Clio R3 racer hit a bump on the road that sent the French car into the air before rolling over and crashing during the 2014 Rallye de Wallonie, in Belgium at the end of April.

You can see from the dash-cam and their reactions that the accident was very violent, but despite their screams, they both made it out alive and well.

“Shocked but unharmed, we just had time to see the damage [to the car] before leaving for the hospital to reassure us permanently,” Poot wrote on his website.
