Currently believed to make 510 hp, AMG’s upcoming 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is expected to be a real highlight of the upcoming AMG GT coupe. Placed close to the center of the car and featuring a dry sump lubrication system, it should offer the kind of handling the heavy SLS could never muster, and actually be a fitting rival to the Porsche 911.
The M178 engine, as it’s internally known, is digitally dissected in the video posted below, where you even get to see the nano-coating that’s found inside the cylinders, aimed to reduce friction by as much as possible.

What’s most interesting is the placement of the turbochargers, which are kind-of integrated in the top part of the block; they don’t seem bolted on, but rather an integral part of the design.
