Nissan has great expectations of the second-generation Nissan Qashqai and judging from the reviews we’ve seen so far its expectations are justified. Autocar has thought of a different kind of review, a bit longer than usual, driving a brand new Qashqai from the Sunderland plant where it is built to Istanbul and back – roughly 5,378 miles (8,655 kilometers).

Why Istanbul? Because it’s the only city situated both in Europe, the main market for the Qashqai, and in Asia, the continent where Nissan is from. The road trip took 13 days and 3 drivers to cover, crossing 21 European countries in the process – enough for anyone to give a more than fair assessment of a new car. The new Qashqai was found to be smooth, quiet and comfortable on all types of roads that it had to cover.

Scroll down to watch the road trip and listen to the impressions of each of the three drivers.
