While Brits may not care much about the part of Europe where it is made, they do seem to have taken a liking to Dacia. The Romanian automaker announced the sale of the 25,000th in the country, after managing to shift 10,000 of them in the first 18 months of UK presence.

This points to the fact that the brand is expanding well, gaining new buyers, which it lures away from Dacia’s main rival: a second hand, two year-old Ford Focus (or Vauxhall Astra).

Customer number 25,000, Alison Beirne, is now the owner of a white Sandero Stepway, in top Laureate trim, powered by the new Renault-sourced TCe 90 engine.

The official press blurb states that after it has established itself well enough, the brand will look at surpassing Mazda, MINI and Volvo in the sales charts next.
