While it’s plausible for many to go out and buy the Jaguar F-Type Coupe based on style alone, it’s actually a car that offers far more in terms of driver enjoyment than reviewers have come to expect from a Jag two-door.

It’s still not as good to drive as the benchmark Porsche 911, but it is closer than you’d have believed prior to watching the MT video comparo posted below.

It puts the all-new Jaguar F-Type Coupe, in most powerful R guise, against the special Porsche 911 50th Anniversary model. The latter is less powerful and more expensive, plus it doesn’t turn heads the way F-Type does, yet it provides more competent and predictable on-the-limit handling, even if it’s no match for the Jag for straight line go.

Whichever tickles your fancy most, were you to own either, you’d definitely come to love it and end up defending it to the death; unless your Porsche goes awry and the dealer will have none of it
