Audi’s hardly noticeable A7 facelift (that took inspiration for the shape of its daytime running lights from Volvo’s latest concepts…) has now hit the RS7. Featuring the same new headlights and raft of updates, the performance spearhead of the A7 range banks on subtlety mixed with 556hp to make a case for itself.

The new (Matrix LED) lights are the most noticeable of updates brought to the RS7, though it does also feature a revised instrument cluster, along with “the air outlet controls of the vent nozzles, the shift paddles behind the steering wheel and the quattro emblem on the instrument panel.”

Power comes from an untouched version of the same 4.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo V8 as before. It hurls the RS7 from naught past the benchmark sprint speed in 3.9 seconds and can, with an optional pack fitted, hit a top speed of 305 km/h or 189.5 mph – cylinder deactivation means it can theoretically average 9.5 l/100km or 24.8 mpg US, though, this seems very unrealistic in a car this powerful and heavy…

Gadgets-wise, the touch-operated MMI navigation plus system comes as standard, boasting snappy responses and vivid colors thanks to a graphics processor from Nvidia. Standard rim size is 20-inch, though 21-inch ones are available as options, which can be had with fiber-ceramic disks that add a hefty premium to its (Germany) base price of €113,300.
