Some three years have passed since this accident involving an Audi R8 Spyder, Ice-T’s Mercedes SL55 AMG and another passenger car occurred at the 2011 Bullrun Rally, but video footage has just surfaced on the web. It’s not hard to imagine why it took so long, but like they say, better late than never…

YouTube author Speedracer38 who filmed the scene from behind describes the accident:

“In 2011 while on the Bullrun rally I witnessed a massive accident unfold right in front of me,” he said. “The driver of the Audi R8 Spyder was changing lanes and did not see the Mercedes SL55 next to him and made contact with the car at a high rate of speed. Once he made contact with the Mercedes the R8 bounced off and lost control causing him to slam into the back of a Honda. Both the Audi and the Honda entered the fast lane where the car I was riding in was traveling and we came extremely close to being tangled up in the accident as well.”

“The Mercedes that was involved in the accident was owned by Ice T and he pulled over to check the damage to his car and was able to continue driving. The cause of the accident according to the police report was a blown out tire and the Audi R8 was a total write off.”

As the guys over at Jalopnik mentioned, after watching the clip, the Audi driver’s blown tire excuse doesn’t really fly, now, does it…
