If anything, there’s something fishy going on in Somerville, Massachusetts, where an unidentified Facebook user recorded a man who he claims is an undercover cop for the local police department, walking back and forth across an intersection to catch drivers who fail to stop.

“Somerville police are using undercover crosswalkers to set up questionable traps at crosswalks throughout the town,” reported the Free Thought Project.

The suspicious middle-aged man in shorts is filmed crossing the same intersection three times in a row in less than 90 seconds. As they say, third time is a charm and just before you know it, a police car comes out of the corner blipping its lights.

“If you don’t stop, he’ll get ya,” says the man shooting the footage. “The other guy yelled at me for filming it. There was another cop saying ‘what are you doing?'”, he says.

Evidently, it’s illegal to drive through an intersection when there’s a pedestrian walking inside, but if the undercover cop theory proves to be true (and it looks like it from this video), then this raises a lot of ethical questions about the Somerville Police Department, don’t you think?
