At this October’s Paris Auto Show, Suzuki will host the world premiere of a new small SUV called the Vitara, which is the production version of last year’s iV-4 Concept.

To answer your fist question, no, this isn’t a replacement for the Grand Vitara but a new proposal from Suzuki that falls between the Jimny and the Grand Vitara and is the brand’s answer to increasingly popular small SUVs like the Nissan Juke and Opel Mokka.

From the single front-quarter photo and video that Suzuki released, it’s apparent that, while the production car remained fairly close to the concept, it looks less impressive without the big wheels, body kit and more futuristic lights.

We suspect that its exterior dimensions will be similar to the concept at 4,215mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,655mm tall, with a 2,500mm wheelbase.

Suzuki said that the car will go on sale next year offering optional “ALLGRIP intelligent” four wheel drive‎ with both petrol and diesel engines that promise “low CO2 emissions as well as outstanding fuel economy in the sector”.

The Japanese firm added that the Vitara will give customers numerous color and trim customization options.

Further details are to be released in the coming weeks.
