Even if you’re not a New Yorker, you can’t help but feel sad for the prophesized demise of the familiar Ford Crown Vic taxis, especially when their typical American sedan shape is being replaced by a boxy and not very attractive Japanese van, built in Mexico.

Called “the Taxi of Tomorrw,” the Nissan NV200-based vehicle features several innovations that will make cab journeys that little bit better (and freer of other people’s germs…).

This excellently written and executed KBB short review puts it all into perspective with a tasteful humorous twist. The NV200 may not look any better than a Crown Vic, but it offers more space for passengers, a cleaner environment, doors that are no longer a hazard to bicyclists and much improved fuel efficiency.

This video won’t make you like it any more, but it will set the tone for fun making – it’s one way of accepting its imminent proliferation with as little bitterness and nostalgia as possible.
