We wonder when Ian Callum will stop climbing the coolness scale. His contemporary designs for Jaguar are great and they show he has a real appreciation for the brand’s history and heritage.

This has also translated into a personal project which he undertook with Classic Motor Cars Limited (CMC), a UK-based company that specializes in the restoration of old cars.

It’s a Mark II Jag, which has been modernized and improved as per the vision of Mr. Callum. He wanted to change the car in certain ways, because, in his own words, “although the Mark II has always been a beautiful car, it could be even more exciting in shape and performance. Whilst maintaining the purity of the car’s form, I wanted to add a number of modern twists to the design. Simplification and clarity was my objective.”

The work was carried out by the passionate workers and engineers from CMC, who not only improved the look of the Mk II as per Ian Callum’s vision, but also improved the way it drives by uprating several key mechanical components. Firstly, the car gets independent rear suspension and uprated front brakes.

The car now sits 30 mm lower than stock and rides on 17-inch rims, as well – the different bumpers also help out with the new stance.

The engine is still a Jag unit, a 4.3-liter straight-six out of an XK. It too has been modified, though it’s not specified what kind of figures it achieves. However much power it makes, it’s all sent to the rear tires via a five-speed manual gearbox.

All in all, a truly stunning dream machine, and one that’s set to be revealed in the metal at the Salon Prive, which is set to take place at the very start of next month (which also happens to be next week).
