On the verge of hitting UK roads (from late September), the all-new Renault Twingo’s pricing and specs scheme has just been announced.

Set to cost from £9,495, the car will be offered in three distinct trim levels (Expression, Play and Dynamique) and two engine options.

The powerplants offered are either a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated unit that makes 70 hp, or the now common 0.9-liter TCe turbo with 90 hp – it’s already being used in a wide variety of Renault and Dacia models.

Kit on the basic Expression model is not excessive, but you do get body-colored exterior details (little bare plastic on show here), a subtle rear spoiler, LED DRLs, electric front windows and speed limiter.

However, one notable omission on this entry-level model is air-con which only becomes available if you order the Play trim. It also adds different 15-in alloys and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.

Opt for Dynamique and you gain stop-start, yet another version of 15-inch rims, electric and heated mirrors, cruise control, lane departure warning, leater-clad steering wheel and shift knob, unique white backlighting for the instruments, a folding key fob and storage pockets for the rear doors (which should be standard on all models no matter the trim, if you ask us).

There’s even Variable Gear Ratio power steering which is claimed to make the vehicle more agile, but as some (even much more expensive) cars have proved, such systems aren’t always perfect.

Naturally, being a small city car launched in 2014, personalization is a huge deal. We won’t go into specifics, but let’s just say you can do a lot and there are quite a few tech options available for it, as well. We’d opt for the Sport pack with 16-inch rims, part-leather seats, special exterior decals, aluminum pedals.
