Citroen C4 Cactus Hits UK Market; Starts at £12,990

While it may be a front-wheel drive crossover, which is basically a fake-SUV for people who couldn’t care less, the Citroen C4 Cactus manages to be funky and functional enough to justify its existence.

The French even call it something else altogether: “crosshatch.” Another plus on its side is its price, which in the UK kicks off from £12,990, and yes, the Airbumps come as standard.

You already have all the information on the Cactus: it’s some 200 kilos lighter than a comparable C4 hatch (because it’s based on supermini architecture), it uses very little fuel (up to 91 mpg UK / 3.1 l/100km claimed), it looks cool and comes with surprising amount of fresh tech.

The base version comes with automatic air-con, a seven-inch touchscreen (with DAB, navigation, Bluetooth and other connected services), 75 hp, ‘Magic Wash,’ which is “an innovation that integrates targeted washer jets into the ends of the wiper blades, delivering the optimum amount of fluid directly in front of the blade itself” and a UV-treated panoramic roof.

The engine range culminates with the PureTech 110 petrol or the BlueHDi 100 diesel, while gearbox options are either a five-speed manual or six-speed automated manual. The latter, in conjunction with the e-HDi 92 power plant pushes the price to £18,190, in Flair trim.
