GM’s Opel Brings New 170PS 2.0-liter Turbo Diesel to Paris

A new-gen 2.0-liter CDTi with more power and better fuel efficiency designed for GM’s European portfolio will make its debut on the Opel / Vauxhall Insignia and Zafira Tourer at the Paris Auto Show.

The Euro 6 compliant four-cylinder unit that packs 5 percent more horsepower and 14 percent more peak torque at 168hp (170PS) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) respectively, will replace the current 2.0 CDTi with 161hp (163PS) and 380Nm (280 lb-ft) from early next year.

As well as being slightly more powerful, GM stated that the new 2.0-liter lump returns better fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions, though, it didn’t say by how much.

The automaker added that the new diesel also “emits less noise than its predecessor throughout its operating range, and is five decibels quieter at idle”.
