Did you notice how Benz (sic) calls the new C63 AMG W205 in its official papers? They’re referring to it as the Mercedes-AMG C 63, instead of the previously used Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG moniker.

We first saw this move to eliminate Karl Benz’s surname from AMG models implemented on the new Mercedes-AMG GT sports coupe, with the C63 being the second car in the range to follow suit.

Speaking on the subject, Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH said:

“We are marking the beginning of a new era with the new nomenclature. The successor to the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, which has been incredibly successful worldwide, will now be called the Mercedes-AMG C63.”

Even though it has a nice ring to it, it’s another blow to the founder of the brand, Karl Benz, after Dieter Zetsche eliminated his name from the Daimler group during the Chrysler-ownership years (DaimlerChrysler 1998-2007) and never looked back, with the group now aptly named “Daimler AG“.
