Peugeot will debut the facelifted 508 range in Europe at the Paris Auto Show next month, with the mid-size model bringing styling, mechanical and technology updates.

Previewed in June, the revised 508 received the brand’s new corporate grille, new headlights and taillights, a more horizontal bonnet, as well as redesigned bumpers.

Top-of-the-range grades (RXH, GT & Allure) get all-LED headlamps, daytime running lights and fog lamps. Lesser models get halogen headlamps, while the daytime running lamps, direction indicators, side lamps, and front fog lamps are entirely LED. The taillights have been redesigned on the sedan for a more horizontal look, each containing 36 LEDs. The rear lamps on SW and RXH remain unchanged.

The cabin gets a new 7-inch touch screen as standard from the trim level 2 (Active), head-up display on RXH and GT models, reversing camera and blind spot sensors. The 508 also gets the new generation of connected services Peugeot Connect Apps.

As for the engines, the big news for the revised 508 lineup is a new power unit available for the RXH body style – a 2.0-liter BlueHDi diesel with 180PS, mated to the new EAT6 six-speed automatic gearbox. Rated at 4.6 l/100 km (51.1 mpg US), the model will arrive in Europe from November 2014. The 508 RXH will continue to be offered with the diesel-electric HYbrid4 powertrain as well.

Regular 508 models also get a new 1.6-liter THP 165 Stop&Start, available with a six-speed manual or the new six-speed automatic transmission. This Euro 6 engine produces 165PS and replaces the Euro 5 156PS 1.6-liter engine from the previous model, delivering reduced CO2 emissions (129 g/km compared to 144 g/km). The entry-level petrol engine remains the Euro 5 1.6-liter VTi 120, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel lineup gets two new Euro 6 engines, a 2.0-liter BlueHDi with 150PS and a 2.0-liter BlueHDi with 180 PS. The former is offered with a 6-speed manual and has CO2 emissions of just 105g/km for both the sedan and SW model. The latter is only available with the six-speed auto and is rated at 111 g/km on the sedan.

Sales of the facelifted Peugeot 508 begin today in Europe and in January 2015 in China.
