When the Macan launched last year, Porsche described it as the sports car of the compact SUVs, with reviews showing that there was a lot of truth in the statement.

But how does the Macan compare to one of Porsche’s best sports cars, the mid-engined Cayman coupe? Auto Express wanted to find out and chose the most powerful versions of each model, the Macan Turbo and the Cayman GTS.

With 400hp and 550Nm (406lb-ft) of torque, the Macan Turbo is the more powerful of the two models. However, it is considerably heavier, tipping the scales at 1,925kg (4,244lbs), compared to the Cayman GTS’ 1,345kg (2,965lbs). Still, the Macan Turbo hits 60mph in 4.8 seconds, just 0.2 seconds slower than the Cayman GTS, which has 340hp and 380Nm (280lb-ft).

However, the Macan Turbo has the advantage of all-wheel drive, so this should be a quite close duel. Scroll down to find out if that’s the case from the video.
