An absolutely gorgeous collection of ’60s and ’70s American muscle cars went under the hammer Friday by order of the government – and did they ever get a ton of money for these things.

According to NJ.com, the former owner of this collection, former president of Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services David Nicoll, pleaded guilty to leading a a $100 million bribery scheme. The car collection is part of $50 million worth of goods Nicoll acquired while bribing doctors. U.S. Marshals reportedly seized the vehicles earlier this year.

The biggest get at the auction Friday was for a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, with a 426 engine. It went for a hefty $575,000 from A.J. Willner Auctions.

Other big draws from the collection included a ’69 Chevy Yenko Nova for $400,000, and a Yenko Camaro for $315,000. A 1970 Boss 429 Mustang also scored a significant $265,000 winning bid. And a mid-restoration ’71 Hemi ‘Cuda went for $347,500.

All in, the nine vehicles auctioned off sold for a combined $2,535,000. Other vehicles were a ’67 Shelby GT 500, a ’70 Chevelle Convertible, a ’69 Yenko Chevelle and a ’70 Chevelle SS 454.
