Jaguar has released full details and a big photo gallery of its new XE sedan, which will officially debut this week at the Paris Auto Show.

Described as the smallest, lightest and stiffest Jaguar sedan, the XE is also the most aerodynamic Jaguar ever, with a drag coefficient of 0.26. The only vehicle in its class to use an aluminum-intensive monocoque, the rear-wheel drive XE promises “benchmark vehicle dynamics” as well as high fuel-efficiency.

The first vehicle to be built on Jaguar Land Rover’s new modular vehicle architecture, the XE benefits from the new Ingenium family of engines, which includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine offered in two states of tune (163PS and 180PS), the first of which averages just 75 mpg UK (3.7 l/100 km or 62.4 mpg US) and emits 99 g/km of CO2.

The lineup also includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit in two output version with 200PS (197hp) and 240PS (237hp). The former produces 280Nm (206lb-ft) of torque, while the latter develops 340Nm (251lb-ft) of torque. All-four cylinder engines are mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox as standard.

The range-topping engine is a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 petrol unit producing 340PS (335hp). Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the latter allows the XE to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The XE will be offered with five trim levels: Pure, R-Sport, S, Prestige and Portfolio. Advanced driver assistance systems include the All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), a traction management system which improves traction on low-grip surfaces such as snow-covered driveways and ungritted winter roads. Other gadgets include the Laser Head Up Display, stereo camera technology, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring with Closing Vehicle Sensing and many others.
