The BMW X6 is admittedly a car lots of people love to hate. Some disapprove of its lack of practicality, visibility and space, while others frown upon its neither coupe nor SUV styling, even though underneath it’s always been a competent driving machine.

BMW has kept the formula the same for the all-new generation, so the haters are still going to hate… The only thing that’s new is the vehicle on which it’s all based – the new generation X5 which we tested and found to be a very competent and comprehensive SUV package.

If the X6 is like that but sportier, then we don’t really see it as being a bad thing, since the vehicle we drove was both comfortable and reasonably sharp to drive.

Besides, the X6’s problem was never the way it drove, and it was always a matter of image / reputation – it’s assumed that those who fancy the X6 aren’t the most agreeable people. That can be proven true if you push it, but as XCar points out, it’s never wise to generalize.
