Scion FR-S Gains Targa Version for SEMA

Scion’s biggest surprise for this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas is by far the FR-S T1 targa top version, built by Jeremy Lookofsky of Cartel Customs.

Featuring a black targa top and Azzuro California Blue custom body paint, the Scion FR-S T1 also features an integrated rear spoiler. The custom FR-S’ stance is improved thanks to a lowered KW coil-over suspension and 19-inch forged wheels, but the changes aren’t limited to looks.

The Scion FR-S T1 features a GReddy street turbo kit, Wilwood Big Brake Kit with custom nickel-plated finish and a high-mounted custom center exhaust. Inside, an OEM Audio+ System 400 complemented by a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX head unit are responsible for the passengers’ good humor.

The second custom car previewed by Scion ahead SEMA is the x Riley Hawk Skate Tour xB, built by Scott Kanemura of KMA Productions. Combining themes like skateboarding, 1970s style and the passion for music, the unusual creation was inspired by the interests of professional skateboarder Riley Hawk.

The custom Scion xB features a wood-grain décor, a mini fridge, shag carpet, an 8-track player, a Big Pioneer Sound System and the ability to play guitar through the audio system using an iPad mini as mixer. There’s also a cargo box integrated with an INNO rack system to store skateboards.

Other fun features include the 1970s style custom paint pattern with a “fish bowl” side window, non-functional dual side exhaust pipes, plush captain-style chairs in the front and back, motorized rear-facing monitor for media play back and a dual-motion table that both slides out and pivots up with storage below.

In total, Scion’s SEMA Show booth will include six interpretations of the tC, FR-S and xB, including the Scion x Slayer Mobile Amp tC, built by Mike Vu of MV DESIGNZ. An homage to Slayer, the famous thrash metal band, the custom Scion tC features a custom paint job with airbrushed logos and skulls, suicide doors and Billet Slayer sword blade wheels with spike-style center caps. The interior has a custom Pioneer audio system with towers of speakers, a custom mixer and a 32-inch monitor for media playback.
