Now this is something we want to see – sadly, we’ll have to wait until 2029 to even hope of laying eyes on a Bentley/Rolls Royce rival from Cadillac. It could materialize if the new company CEO, Johan de Nysschen, will stay until then, as it was his idea.

Reuters quotes de Nysschen as saying “It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac,” although he does come back adding that “fifteen years from now, it won’t be.” It would sit above the CT-6, a Mercedes S-Class-rival due next year (our interpretation pictured).

It could be the final stage in his planned shakeup of the brand which will eat up $2.5 / €2 billion within the next six years.

De Nysschen seems to be aiming both very high and very low, and the same report has him talking about a car to sit below the ATS in the range. He says “We quite clearly have in the passenger car line an opportunity below where ATS is positioned today. “There is a whole new category for compact premium sedans.”

We assume that could be a front-wheel drive-biased model based on an existing architecture, so it should probably be the easiest one to make – there would be no reason to have a rwd model, now that even BMW, Mercedes and Lexus have ditched it…

More crossovers are reportedly on the way too, since Cadillac is really lagging behind in terms of variety in that area.
