It’s hard to bash a car as good as the new Hyundai Sonata, even if you’re a badge snob with a penchant German premium brands. It looks as good as anything in the midsize sedan class, it drives really well and is at least average or adequate at everything else.

It’s by no means a revelation in the class, like the swoopy and stylish Mazda6 was, or the cavernous VW Passat, but the more grown up look is much more timeless. Its predecessor was a bit polarizing when it came to its shape, while this either makes you say it’s stylish and restrained, or at least not offensive.
