These are the first photos of Kia’s KX3 Concept from the vehicle’s debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China.

Based on the same platform as the Hyundai ix25, the Kia KX3 Concept previews a production subcompact crossover expected to enter production in the first quarter of 2015. Engine options will be 1.6- and 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engines offered with either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.

Four-wheel drive is expected to be offered as an option. In the future, the small crossover will also get the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Targeting young customers, the KX3 features a playful design which includes the brand’s tiger nose grille, new LED headlamps underlined by LED DRLs and LED taillamps. Overall, the car looks production ready, although the interior is being kept hidden from cameras behind impenetrable black windows.

Standard equipment of the production model is expected to include side and curtain airbags, ESC, automatic climate control, rear air vents and LED daytime running lights, among other features.
