Property tycoon Jon Hunt is suing a West London auto shop after his $1,4 million Lamborghini Miura SV burst into flames with his son inside. Fortunately, the young lad was able to get out of the car unharmed. The incident occurred last year with bystanders filming the blaze.

Jon Hunt, a UK billionaire who founded Foxtons estate agents, is taking legal action against H.R. Owen Dealerships, asking for £700,000, or about $1.1 million / €880,000, in compensation, including damages.

His son had taken delivery of the 1971 Mirua SV from the garage right after a service was completed. Less than a mile later, the rare Italian exotic exploded in flames and was completely destroyed.

According to a report from Yahoo, a writ at the High Court stated:

“The defendant notified Mr Hunt that the services had been completed and the vehicle was ready for collection.”

“On April 5, 2013 Mr Hunt, by his son, attended the garage to collect the vehicle. Mr Hunt’s son was then provided with the keys to the vehicle. He then proceeded to drive into London along the A40.”

“As the vehicle proceeded it did not appear to be running smoothly. Within less than one mile of the garage, the vehicle’s engine gave off a puff of white smoke.”

Mr. Hunt stated in the summons that while the car is worth £900,000 ($1.4 million), he agrees to offset the £200,000 ($300,000) salvage value that the burnt shell has.
