New Qoros 3 City SUV Is Exactly What You Expected it to Be

The Qoros brand continues its expansion with the 3 City SUV which debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show today. The production model’s design is no surprise, as it follows closely the lines of the Cross Hybrid concept unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show last year.

Qoros’ third production model shares underpinnings with the 3 Sedan and 3 Hatch, sourcing its power from a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 156hp and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm.

With the standard six-speed manual transmission, the compact SUV sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds, while with the optional six-speed DCT automatic it covers the sprint in 10.8 seconds. Top speed is 208 km/h (129 mph). Qoros says the 3 City SUV averages 6.8 l/100 km (34.6 mpg US) with the manual transmission and 6.9 l/100 km (34 mpg US) with the DCT.

The SUV sits 67mm (2.6in) higher than the 3 Hatch and has a relatively long wheelbase (2,694mm/106in) for the compact class. The car is 4,452mm (175.2in) long, 1,854mm (73in) wide and 1,504mm (59.2in) tall.

At launch, it will be available in four trim levels (Active, Style, Style Plus and Excite), with all models featuring the 8-inch capacitive touchscreen infotainment system Qoros MMH (Multi Media Hub) as standard across the range. Furthermore, the QorosQloud connected services platform, showcased on a doorless Qoros 3 City SUV in Guangzhou, is standard on most models.

Built in Changshu, China, on same production line as the 3 Sedan and 3 Hatch, the 3 City SUV will go on sale before the end of December 2014 with prices starting from RMB 140,000 ($22,860).
