Since China is Skoda’s biggest single market worldwide, the Czech carmaker is paying special attention to the Guangzhou Auto Show by bringing the VisionC study.

The Chinese debut of Skoda’s most important concept car in recent years shows the brand’s ambitions in the world’s biggest car market. Besides the study, the stand will include the full range of Skoda’s current China lineup. Eight models are currently available in China: Fabia, Rapid, Rapid Spaceback, Octavia, Yeti, Yeti 4×4, Superb and Superb Combi. Apart from the Yeti 4×4 and the Superb Combi, all vehicles are manufactured locally.

In 2014 alone, Skoda has doubled the number of models built in China to six vehicles. The brand will continue the expansion and aims to increase deliveries in the country to at least 500,000 annually. In the first ten months of 2014, Skoda has delivered 223,800 vehicles to customers in China, accounting for an increase of 12.4 percent compared to the same period last year. In October alone, the Czech carmaker increased sales in China by 19.1 percent.

Since 2007 when Skoda entered the Chinese market, the brand has delivered more than 1.2 million vehicles in the country. Only three years after, China has become Skoda’s No. 1 market worldwide. Skoda has closely cooperated with Shanghai Volkswagen, with about 1.1 million vehicles being produced at the joint-venture’s plants. Skoda production currently takes place at three locations in China: Ningbo, Anting and Yizheng.
