Consumer Reports says the 2015 Subaru Impreza is a lot of car for the amount you’re asked to pay for it. It’s a car that is often outshined by more aggressively promoted rivals, even though there’s a lot to recommend it.

Firstly, it comes with all-wheel drive as standard, which is unusual in the class. Moreover, it’s one of Subaru’s advanced symmetrical systems so it’s offers more capability than rival offerings.

It also comes as both a sedan and a hatch (quite rare to offer both in the States), and the 2015 model-year comes packed with tech.

Of course, the interior is let down by mediocre (although improving) quality offset by its spaciousness and light, airy feel. Large glass areas help in that respect.

So before you go out and buy a Chevy Cruze or a Toyota Corolla, do check it out, especially if you live in one of the colder states.
