The world’s fastest SUV around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the 542hp Range Rover Sport SVR, promises to be quite interesting to drive – for an SUV, that is. However, Land Rover hasn’t let journalists drive it just yet.

Chris Ebbs from Auto Express did the next best thing to driving it though, as he was given a ride on the Rockingham circuit by Mike Cross, Chief Engineer Vehicle Integrity for Jaguar Land Rover – the man who recently drifted the Sport SVR in an official video to show how balanced the SUV is.

From a passenger’s point of view, the Range Rover Sport SVR is described as a very competent SUV on the circuit, but I have to say this still doesn’t help me understand why would anyone want a performance SUV and most of all, why would anyone want to take it to a racetrack.
