The Skoda Octavia Scout can probably fit a lot of different lifestyles, especially for people living in colder climates with heavy snow. the extra ground clearance and all-wheel drive make it capable in low-grip conditions, and its estate body means it’s quite practical too.

Carbuyer really praises it in their video review. They say it’s a great addition to an already excellent range, although the hot vRS models are still arguably more desirable.

The diesel is obviously the pick of the range, and you don’t have to opt for the more powerful of the 2.0-liter units – 150 PS will prove plenty for any situation.

The Scout is slightly less efficient than a regular Octavia estate diesel awd, returning a claimed 5.1 l/100km (55.3 mpg UK) versus 4.2 l/100km (67 mpg UK).

One thing to note is that this new Scout has a slightly larger angle of attack than its predecessor – it’s therefor theoretically a bit more capable off road than before.
