Opel’s smallest car, the recently unveiled Karl, is clearly not the type of car one would choose based on its looks only. Sure, some will appreciate it, but I think it is rather bland looking and uninspiring.

That doesn’t matter too much since the Karl (or Vauxhall Viva) is aimed at cost-conscious consumers. The car is expected to start from under €10,000 in Europe (about £7,500 in the UK) when it launches next year.

Opel’s style-conscious customers can always opt for the Adam, which has a posh look and offers a wide range of personalization options.

Having said that, the automaker wants to tell people that it is proud of the Karl’s looks, and has assigned vice president of design Mark Adams to talk us through the city car’s exterior package. Scroll down to hear what he has to say.
