In many respects, the new rules brought to F1 in 2014 was designed to make the season extraordinarily controversial from the very beginning. Now, an 18-minute video montage relives every unforgettable moment of the 2014 F1 season.

The 2014 Formula 1 season saw the end of the popular 2.4 liter V8 power unit for an all-new turbocharged 1.6 liter V6 hybrid unit that received mixed reactions. Let’s be honest, most fans hated the gutless drone of the tiny V6.

However, ignore the engines for a moment and fans will realize that the 2014 F1 season exhibited one of the most exhilarating title chases to date. Recount all the massive back-and forth points lead changes between Mercedes Drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. In fact, F1 pundits agree that there hasn’t been a more fierce inter-team rivalry in the sport since Senna versus Prost in 1988.

The 2014 F1 Season hit the ground running with a nail-biting desert showdown in Bahrain. Finally, the tense Hamilton-Rosberg rivalry ultimately evolved into an all-out war when Hamilton accused Rosberg of committing a “deliberate mistake” to snatch pole at Monaco. Next, Hamilton suffered a string of misfortune and race retirements including a devastating brake failure during the Canadian Grand Prix.

Ultimately, Hamilton clawed his way back into championship contention as he entered the final race at Abu Dhabi with a 17 point advantage over Nico Rosberg. The rest, as they say, is history.
