Skoda has begun production the new Fabia Combi at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav, the Czech Republic. Arriving in European markets in January 2015, the new Fabia Combi is being launched just weeks after the sales debut of the Fabia hatchback model.

The automaker says the plant has undertaken extensive adaptation and modernization work for the series production of the new Fabia. Works included establishing a new facility to configure new assistance systems, and renewing certain areas of the paint shop.

“The production launch of the new Skoda Fabia Combi is a key element of our comprehensive model campaign. As the best-selling vehicle in its segment, the Fabia Combi is a pillar of the Skoda growth strategy,” said Skoda Board Member for Production and Logistics, Michael Oeljeklaus.

The new Skoda Fabia Combi offers a generous boot volume of 530 liters (1,395 liters with the rear seats folded down), and features up to 17 Simply Clever solutions, ten of which are on offer in the estate version for the first time.

The new Fabia Combi also features new safety, comfort and infotainment systems, including the MirrorLink technology, which allows smartphone apps to be displayed on the infotainment system screen. There’s also the SmartGate function, which enables data on the vehicle to be displayed and saved on a smartphone by using special apps.

Compared with the previous generation model, the Fabia Combi is up to 17 percent more fuel-efficient, with the most economical version (Fabia Combi GreenLine) promising a combined fuel consumption of 3.1 l/100 (75.9 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of just 82 g/km. The Skoda Fabia Combi GreenLine will launch in the second half of 2015.
