Behold the magnificence of the Dojo Pioneer, a small Chinese EV that owes everything to the Aston Martin Cygnet. Or at least it does when you look at the front end, because everything else is, well, boring old five-door city car fare, although that strangely isn’t good either in this context.

Its power figure of 13.4 hp would make even a Citroen 2CV seem adequate, although its range of 120 km or 75 miles is not bad. Power is drawn from a lead-acid battery pack of unknown capacity, and at full bore it sprints to 30 km/h in 9.6 seconds.

These numbers seem a bit ridiculous, but at least you won’t ever be going fast enough to cause yourself harm. This, dear readers, is therefor the safest car in the world, and it comes from China costing the equivalent around $7,000.

You’ve got European styling, no emissions, room for four and the guarantee that you will never go fast enough to have a serious crash – they could be on to a winner here…
