With all the drag racing that’s been going on, it’s always a treat to see some genuine drag strip action with timed runs and solid road conditions. Also a treat: witnessing a twin turbo Lamborghini at work.

The 560 HP Porsche 911 Turbo S is a worthy opponent for anybody. We’ve long established that. Top speed 318 km/h (197mph), 0-100 km/h (62mph) in just 3.1 seconds, what more do you need?

The drag strip rewards those with quick cars and quick reflexes, but there aren’t that many quicker things than a twin turbo Lamborghini nowadays. This Heffner Gallardo puts down 850 WHP and about 1,000 HP at the crank, making it pretty hard to beat.

The race however is very close and the Gallardo takes it by just 0.18 seconds, which obviously says more about how fast the 911 Turbo S is than about how well the Lambo handles all that extra power and torque.

Both of these are 10 second cars, but if the race went on for a full mile, the Gallardo would start pulling away steadily, since it’s already doing 16 mph more when they pass the 1/4 mile mark.
