The Lamborghini Aventador has sort of been one of our unofficial favorite cars of the drag strip, even though we’ve seen it fall behind a Tesla Model S P85D and barely keeping the Huracan at bay.
The reason behind the Aventador’s popularity is rather simple. It’s one of the best looking cars ever made, and thanks to its monstrous V12 engine, it’s one of the fastest as well at 700 PS. In this video we get to see the Roadster version, which is even better looking! And it’s packing around 20 extra horses just for good measure. One would think that would be enough to keep the McLaren MP4-12C in check, but you would be wrong.
We’ve also seen the 12C take on the Huracan which would only re-enforce our position about this drag race.
However this twin-turbo V8 McLaren came prepared, rocking an AMS tune (it’s one of the fastest MP4-12C in the States) and Nitto drag radials. What the Lambo was wearing was unspecified.
The end result isn’t just surprising, but also quite emphatic. We’ll let you see for yourselves just how big of a difference the 12C’s mods made in this particular drag race, along with another video showing it’s launch control capabilities.
That thing takes off like a Saturn 5 rocket! It’s almost a 9 second car. Now that’s fast.
