Is there a better way to suggest that your compact-size premium sedan is a great buy, than by having a chauffeur hit on a woman, only to reveal they’re actually husband and wife?

We’d like to say that there is. And the kid in the back agrees with us. However, Audi of America has a somewhat different marketing strategy than what the German car giant applies to its European markets.

This current generation A3 is the first to feature a Sedan body and given the fact that it’s not a bad looking car at all, it has proven to be quite successful. But let’s be real, nobody’s going to think you’re “Hollywood” enough to ride in the back of a limo if that “limo” is just 4456 mm long and has a starting price of $29,900.

Still, the A3 Sedan is a great little saloon, especially for a young couple (preferably no kids). It’s very well made, surprisingly comfortable, sporty and it looks pretty good. To top it all off, its only rival is the $31,500 Mercedes-Benz CLA – so it’s not like this is a very competitive segment.

As a non-premium option, the VW Jetta is the closest thing to the A3 Sedan you can buy. Just don’t expect your VW to look like it’s some chauffeur-driven Rizzy Royce. But the same goes for both the A3 Sedan and the CLA for that matter.
