Since fast station wagons aren’t anything to laugh at nowadays, German tuner B&B Automobiltechnik gave it a go at making the 2.0 BiTDI VW Passat Variant even faster.

The 2.0 BiTDI engine is a pretty impressive unit, putting out 240 HP (177 kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, available from just 1.750rpm. This, along with its 4MOTION all-wheel drive and new 7-speed DSG transmission, send the all-new Passat towards 62 mph (100km/h) in just 6.3 seconds (slower than the saloon).

B&B is offering two power packages to go along with some very cool alloy wheel designs (both 19″ and 20″). The first package bumps the power up to 275 HP and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque, which sounds like music to our ears if it weren’t for the 300 HP upgrade which also gives you 630 Nm (464 lb-ft) of torque.

The 300 HP package will get your Passat Variant 2.0 BiTDI to 62 mph in about 5.5 seconds which is spot on what you’d get in an 8-speed automatic BMW 330d xDrive Touring. However, the BMW only needs 258 HP in order to do that, which is proof enough that more power doesn’t always account for a faster shifting transmission and a more performance oriented all-wheel drive system.

Still, it’s a pretty good setup for a non-premium family estate car and we don’t mind the looks of it either.
