According to this short teaser video, BMW will unveil the revised 2016 1-Series hatchback on Friday, January 16.

While the clip itself doesn’t show anything other than the outline of the compact model’s updated headlamps, tomorrow’s issue of German magazine Autobild has what we believe to be an official image of the car since it coincides with the reveal.

It shows the 1-Series with a redesigned and less controversial-looking fascia sporting smaller headlights, new double kidney grilles and a reworked bumper. Previous spy shots suggest that BMW has made some subtle changes to the rear, including a re-profiled bumper and different graphics for the boxy tail lamp clusters.

Some modest updates are expected inside too, while under the hood, we’d be surprised if BMW didn’t introduce its new 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel and petrol units.
