Two years into its UK foray, Dacia posted good sales numbers as 2014 drew to a close. A total of 23,862 vehicles were shifted (90 percent went to private buyers), which equates to an impressive 39.2 percent increase over 2013.

The top selling model was the Sandero, which managed to find 14,806 homes in 2014. It was actually among the top ten cars in its class for sales, although we suspect the number presented also includes the high-riding Stepway model, as well.

It’s still the Duster that got most of the press when it hit UK shores. People discovered it was very good over a muddy field as well as for towing a caravan – it’s one of the cheapest cars you can buy which can do both well.

The ascending trend will most likely continue in 2015 if market conditions remain the way they are now. Dacia’s growth reflected that of parent company Renault (which managed 42 percent up over 2013) and ended up selling a total of 108,440 cars by year’s end.
