Hyundai has begun manufacturing the facelifted i30 at its European production facility, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC), in Nošovice, Czech Republic.

The second-generation i30 has been on sale since 2012 and has accounted for a fifth of Hyundai’s overall European sales in recent years. With the recently-facelifted model, the Korean carmaker expects to strengthen the i30’s position in the highly-competitive European C-segment.

Along with a refreshed exterior design, the updated Hyundai i30 range gets new engines, transmissions, safety and comfort features. Fuel-efficiency has been improved across the new car’s three body styles (three-door, five-door and wagon), with fuel consumption and CO2 emissions as low as 3.6 l/100 km (65.3 mpg US) and 94 g/km respectively.

The Hyundai i30 lineup also gets a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission option, as well as an i30 Turbo model. Powered by a 186PS (183hp) 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, the i30 Turbo warm hatch sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 219 km/h (136 mph).

Claimed to achieve 7.3 l/100km (39 mpg UK) combined, the i30 Turbo is available in both three- and five-door body styles with specific exterior styling details including different bumpers, new LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels and twin exhausts.
