Since Alfa Romeo has pulled out of the deal to build a new roadster based on the Mazda MX-5, various reports say Abarth will replace Alfa in the project.

This means we will see an Abarth-badged Mazda MX-5 on the market in the following years. Since many people are curious to find out what that car would look like, Photoshop artist Theophilus Chin got to work and applied some traditional Abarth styling cues on the latest generation Mazda MX-5.

While the rendering clearly betrays its origin, the Abarth logo and decals are obvious, as are the multi-spoke alloy wheels. Still, I hope the real thing will look a lot more different than the Mazda MX-5, as the history of automobiles is full of rebadged cars that impressed no one.
